The side was formed by members of the Faithful City Ceilidh Club at a suggestion by John Barker that a Rapper side should be formed during the autumn of 1967.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on one's point of view, the only person in the area prepared to teach any form of ritual dance was Geoffrey Edge, who was familiar with Morris only, and therefore the side developed as a Morris side.
